Chile look bankers at 1/2 with Paddy Power to beat Australia tonight (11pm KO, Live on ITV1) and get their World Cup campaign off to a flying start.

Australia have never beaten la Roja in any competition, drawing one and losing three so far.

The Socceroos have also only won two of their 10 games at the World Cup, and managed to keep just one clean sheet in those matches.

That point actually came courtesy of a 0-0 draw against today’s opponents back in 1974, but there is a huge gulf between the sides now and I fully expect Chile to get the job done with the minimum of fuss.

Chile have won four of their last six games, and showed what they were capable of when comfortably beating England 2-0 at Wembley in one of those.

The also has a terrific trio of attackers in Alexis Sanchez, Eduardo Vargas and Esteban Paredes who look capable of causing the Australian defence all sorts of problems.

Sanchez, who plays for Barcelona in La Liga, has a good strike rate for his country having netted 22 times in 66 appearances.

That makes him look a worthy favourite at 5/1 with Hills and Ladbrokes in the first goalscorer market, and the standout 31/20 with BetVictor about him netting anytime also makes plenty of appeal.

I fancy Chile to win 2-0, and that outcome can be backed at 6/1 with BetVictor and Hills.
