Tim Easterby has his team in good form and his Zaffy looks worth a punt at 12/1 in the 2.50 at Catterick.
The filly shaped with plenty of promise in three maidens runs, most notably when staying on strongly over 5f at Beverley on her second start to finish a 3 lengths third of 9 to Ocean Myth.
She had one of today’s rivals Mick Slates 9 1/2 lengths behind in seventh that day, and now meets that rival on the same terms on only her second start in a handicap.
The daughter of Iffraaj shaped really when on her first start in handicap company at Carlisle last time out over 7f when keeping on well to be beaten just 1 1/2 lengths into fifth behind Johnny Cavagin.
Although she may well appreciate a bit further the soft ground this afternoon will bring her stamina into play and she looks potentially well treated off her current mark of 57.
Given that this is only her fifth career start she is open to plenty more improvement, and there is no way in my book that she should be available to back at double the odds of Mick Slates.
Her trainer also has a decent strike rate at the track, and at 12/1 I think she is definitely overpriced in what looks a very winnable contest.
