CAN Mongys Wild stretch his WINNING run to 14 tonight?

That’s just one of the questions posed at Nottingham tonight as top-class Bank Holiday Monday greyhound racing action graces Colwick Park with three major races down for decision.

The highlight is the Arena Racing Company Select Stakes, the runners for which are chosen by the Greyhound Writers’ Association.

This year’s one-off 500m contest is a cracker and sees the reigning Greyhound of the Year in Newcastle’s Wicky Ned go against the current Greyhound Derby champion in Droopys Plunge.

Add in Irish interest with Silverhill Freya and it looks an intriguing contest.

So who’s the value?

Let’s go with Chelms Bear (8.54) to make the most of the inside line to turn in a pitch and prove the strongest of all. He is trained by Craig Morris.

Joint-most valuable race of the night is the Arena Racing Company Puppy Classic where the hot favourite is Romeo Alliance (8.19).

He is definitely one for money-buyers only but looks head and shoulders above his rivals and has chunks in hand on the clock. Kranky Drake is the alternative.

There is no opposing Mongys Wild (8.36) either in the Arena Racing Company Select Stayers – another long odds-on chance.

However, Fabulous Heka would be a serious rival for Mark Wallis’s dog with another run or two under her belt after a break, although could need tonight’s 730m spin.

Either way, it’s about the winning sequence being extended for the greyhound purists,

Also catching the eye at Nottingham tonight in supporting races are Nathan Hunt’s Cunnigar Yousir (7.44) and Kim Billingham-Hine’s Newinn Souly (8.01). Both arrive in tip-top form.
