Lots to like about early-paced Lark
In the 7.36 at Nottinham tonight, T1 Nidderdale Lark looks worth a wager in a race where the one who makes the first bend in front is likely to come out on top. This John Llewellyn trained bitch has won two of her six starts at the venue from the red jacket and also has a 33 per cent strike rate in the grade (four from 12). She is very closely matched on the clock with the favourite T3 Dog Mac Arthur but looks the best drawn in the line-up in a race full of railers by T6 who is seeded middle. Nidderdale Lark has bags of early pace and her last three splits have been 4.11, 4.09 and 4.07. A repeat of any of those should she her easily beat a slow start in T2 to the bend and turn in front. With the possibility of trouble in behind she would then have every chance of opening up a race winning lead.
Salacres Vincent holds rock solid claims
T6 Salacres Vincent has an excellent record at Nottingham (17 wins from 55 runs) and makes plenty of appeal to further enhance it with victory in the 7.52. Peter Harden’s son of Zero Ten is also nine from 33 when sporting the strips and the only runner in the line-up to have dipped under the 30 second barrier having clocked 29.95 back in December when a 3/4 length runner-up. Beingh the sole seed in the race is another plus as he has plenty of early pace and sectionals which suggest he should be able to lead-up at the first bend. With the possibility of jostling on the inside he will then hopefully be away and gone.in what looks a very winnable contest for him.
River fancied to run them ragged
In the 8.23, T2 Haggswood River looks to have a great chance of registering a trap-to-line success. This daughter of Storm Control has a 33 per cent strike rate in opens having won six of jer 20 starts at the venue. She is also four from seven when sporting the blue jacket and is blessed with plenty fo early pace. So given taht she has a slow starter on her inside and one on her outer that moves middle on the run-up, Haggswood River looks ideally housed to put it to maximum effect and lead at the first bend. It will then be a case of whether she can stretch them out and open up a race winning lead but given that she has form over further there is every chance that could well prove to be the case.
Marie value on the draw
There are five railers in the 9.22 so thats spells danger and potential chaos. It makes T5 Fridays Marie, who is seeded middle, look well-drawn to swoop round the first bend in front and capitalise at tasty oddds. This Pat Rosney trained daughter of Laughhill Blake is 1-1 in the stripes and has also won two of her five starts in opens at the track. She put her good early spred to good use two starts when making all to score by 1 3/4 lengths and encountered all sorts of trouble last time out when third. That run can be forgiven and she has a dog on her inside that usually runs from trap one and is likely to be darting left as the lids open. It should enable Fridays Marie to ge a lovely clear run to the first bend and turn in front. If doing so she could prove tough to peg back – especially if her rivals do come together and jostle for position.
