Andrew Eborn has successfully predicted major events, developments in technology and entertainment as well as election results with alarming accuracy.

The advances in technology and the increase in bandwidth continue to open more and more opportunities.

AI & ROBOTICS IN MEDICINE

This week has seen Doctors voting to reduce the number of GP home visits as they “no longer have the capacity” to offer them. Meanwhile, the NHS continues to be used as a political pawn as the politicians slug it out.

It was therefore refreshing to be invited to film and interview a number of the world’s leading Doctors at a major medical conference.

It was genuinely exciting to learn of the tremendous advances in robotics and AI in the medical space. From 3D printing to the use of robotics in surgery, the innovations are truly astounding leading to significantly reduced hospital stays and faster healing.
The future is not just bright but brilliant …. Watch this space…
INEVITABLE MARCH OF AI & ROBOTS

As we predicted, the inevitable march of AI and robotic technology is changing the way we live and work replacing millions of jobs.

It is both impressive and terrifying.

Jack Ma, Founder and former Chairman of Alibaba, has predicted decades of “pain” due to new technologies.
So what are the facts, the threats and opportunities? And how can we stay relevant and survive…?

Gary Vaynerchuk, CEO Vayner Media, says that those working in potentially replaceable jobs should start learning a new trade for the digital world.

The fact is that every job is potentially replaceable.

“Robots taking over jobs are an issue for people that do jobs that robots are going to take over …People have lost their jobs forever. Jobs are always lost.”

Artificial Intelligence – Science Fiction is now Science Fact.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) uses machine learning to mimic human intelligence. AI is one of the most important technological developments in recent years.

Science Fiction is now Science Fact. We live in a world where machines capable of thinking and learning in the way that the human brain does.
The global gorillas Facebook, Microsoft and Google are investing heavily in AI.
AI amplifies human ingenuity and makes innovation faster and easier.
Deloitte anticipate that by 2020 95 of the world’s 100 largest enterprise software companies by revenues will have integrated cognitive technologies into their products.
Several start-ups are swimming in the AI space. As a result International Data Corporation (IDC) predicts that global spending on cognitive and AI solutions will grow from nearly $8 billion in 2016 to more than $47 billion in 2020
http://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS42439617

AI is having a massive effect across several industries from self-driving cars, face recognition and digital assistants. “Siri tell Alexa to mind her own business!”
We are creating computer systems that are smarter than us. Ray Kurzweil, the American inventor and futurist, predicts that by 2045 computers will have the same level of intelligence as humans – a point in evolution known as singularity. The chips are down !
Computers will be able to solve the world’s problems, accurately predict the future whilst keeping us entertained and being our best friends and carers.
…and that time will fly by. It is incredible to think, for example, that it was 50 years ago that my amazing Mother, Valerie Eborn, celebrated her 40th birthday whilst Chemical Bank installed the first ATM in the U.S. at its branch in Rockville Centre, New York revolutionising banking.

DRIVERLESS VEHICLES

Gary Vaynerchuk points out that truck drivers “know that in 20 years there’s a very good chance the trucks are going to drive themselves… If they choose to put their heads in the sand and be an ostrich, they should face the same fate that everybody who’s put their head in the sand has faced, which is losing.”

The Stanford University economist, Tony Seba, in his report Rethinking Transportation 2020-2030 https://static1.squarespace.com/static/585c3439be65942f022bbf9b/t/591a2e4be6f2e1c13df930c5/1494888038959/RethinkX+Report_051517.pdf
predicted that within the next few years there would be no more petrol or diesel cars, buses, or trucks sold anywhere in the world.
He suggested that the entire market for land transport would switch to electrification leading to a collapse of oil prices and the death of the petroleum industry.
People will stop driving altogether and switch to self-drive electric vehicles (EVs) -10 times cheaper to run than fossil fuelled cars and an expected lifespan of 1 million miles. Ludicrous ! https://www.tesla.com/en_GB/blog/new-tesla-model-s-now-quickest-production-car-world
The report also suggests that “by 2030, within 10 years of regulatory approval of fully autonomous vehicles, 95% of all U.S. passenger miles will be served by transport-asa-service (TaaS) providers who will own and operate fleets of autonomous electric vehicles providing passengers with higher levels of service, faster rides and vastly increased safety at a cost up to 10 times cheaper than today’s individually owned (IO) vehicles.”
The adoption of EVs and driverless cars took a leap forward with the announcement of plans to introduce a ban on the sale of new diesel and petrol cars by 2040.
Michael Gove – whilst Environment Secretary – warned that Britain “can’t carry on” with petrol and diesel cars because of the damage that they are doing to people’s health and the planet. “There is no alternative to embracing new technology,” he said.
Quite right too!
Technology is however already years ahead of Government policy.
The full consequences should also be considered. This will not only have a dramatic impact on the oil industry but will also lead to an unprecedented strain on the National Grid.
In its 2017 Future Energy Scenarios report, http://fes.nationalgrid.com/media/1253/final-fes-2017-updated-interactive-pdf-44-amended.pdf National Grid predicted that electric cars will make up 90 per cent of vehicle sales in 2050 — meaning a much larger demand for energy. Electricity peak demand could be as high as 85GW in 2050, compared to around 60GW today.
Marcus Stewart, head of energy insights at National Grid, emphasised that
“This new era of network operation is exciting and manageable, but it’s important there is investment in smart technologies and electricity infrastructure, and a co-ordinated approach across the whole electricity system.’
It is not just drivers and the oil industry that technology will truck off.

CURTAIN DOWN ON ACTORS? Lights, camera, automation !

The advances in computer graphics, AI and holograms means that everyone can be immortalised. Hollywood has already resurrected several actors from Oliver Reed to Carrie Fisher in order to finish movies. Actors could be replaced completely. Film makers such as American History X Director, Tony Kaye, have already captured headlines by casting robots.
We are already creating holograms which look, sound and smell like the real thing. Those holograms can perform everywhere live acts can perform, as well as in several places other acts can’t reach. Audiences cannot tell the difference. From an artist’s perspective they always give a perfect performance, looking and sounding their best. From a promoter’s perspective, they are always guaranteed that the artist will show up and finish on time without the burden of a rider – the days of blue smarties are past….
The fashion world has also seen the rise of AI created fashion icons Lil Miquela & Shudu, “The World’s First Digital Supermodel”.
Music, literature and art can all be produced by AI and we can not tell the difference…
Mankind will be overthrown by its own creation.
In an age of escalating talent and production costs the opportunities presented by technology become more and more appealing.
To stay relevant and commercially viable all artists need to understand and embrace the opportunities whilst protecting their brand. Rather than being a threat, managed in the right way and with a deep understanding of the value of IP rights these developments can open significant revenue streams.
For many years I have been involved in all aspects of the entertainment industry from content creation to distribution, managing sponsorships and licensing deals to putting on live acts at festivals and for corporate clients. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the biggest bands and brands on the planet. Childhood idols are now personal friends.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU_a2nGJaqE&feature=emb_rel_pause
I have also helped generate revenue from every possible source including from immersive technology and holograms immortalising several artists.
Brand and IP rights have never been more important.
Artists can continue to earn revenue from performances long after their Fenders have faded and their Gibsons gone and perform in territories never previously imagined – all on the same night!
It’s interesting the number of calls I have had from celebrities wanting me to negotiate their image rights and help them generate new revenue streams…..

DEEP FAKE / QUESTION EVERYTHING
Deep fake videos where you can take one person’s image and replace them with someone else’s are frighteningly realistic. Mastering media manipulation is within everyone’s grasp. It is now even possible to manipulate videos in real time.
Check out :

The possibilities are as terrifying as they are delicious.

QUESTIONEVERYTHING
Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story….

ARE YOU BEING SERVED?

Marketing automation tools using AI already empower today’s marketers to analyse customer behaviour, customise outreach and inform sales strategies. Advanced personalisation improves communication leading to interested and engaged customers.
Salesforce predicts that applying AI to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) will produce $1.1 trillion in GDP from $726 billion in increased revenue and $265 billion in decreased expenses.
https://www.salesforce.com/content/dam/web/en_us/www/documents/white-papers/the-economic-impact-of-ai.pdf
The forecast embodies an assumption that AI will lead to net-positive financial benefits, which will drive job growth. Tom Stoddard Aviva’s CFO, argues that the idea is not to replace people with robots, but to “remove the robot from the person” The report acknowledges that
“ some roles may be eliminated” but suggests that “ others will be created or enhanced, not unlike the change in jobs in IT departments during the advent of the cloud.” The suggestion that there will be a net increase in jobs of 800,000 may, however, be wishful thinking.
Keith Block, the vice chairman, president, and COO of Salesforce: “AI is impacting all sectors of the economy and every business. For the CRM market—the fastest-growing category in enterprise software—the impact of AI will be profound, ushering in new levels of productivity for employees and empowering companies to drive even better experiences for their customers.”
What is key is that AI systems will continue to learn and improve from their encounters with customers and tailor their responses accordingly. Customers will be unable to distinguish CRM responses from those sent by real people.
In addition, AI powered CRM systems will also constantly cleanse themselves of dirty data which can cripple a sales force.
http://blog.node.io/2016/12/do-you-practice-proper-crm-hygiene

“Dirty data is the silent killer of marketing campaigns,” says Matt Heinz, President of Heinz Marketing. “It makes you look bad, depresses the impact of great content and offers, and can put your brand, reputation and domain at risk (or worse). “
http://www.bizreport.com/2015/01/study-dirty-data-a-problem-for-marketers.html

AI also leads to improved data capture and analysis.
McKinsey surveyed more than 500 executives across industries, and alarmingly 86 percent said that their data and analytics initiatives were only “somewhat effective” at meeting their objectives. Damnation by faint praise.

In addition, AI is dramatically improving customer service – the lifeblood of many businesses. Microsoft’s 2016 State of Global Customer Service report says that 97 percent of global consumers take customer service into account when choosing a company. This is not surprising. What is surprising is the suggestion that 3% don’t!
90 percent of those surveyed by Microsoft in Brazil, Germany Japan, U.S., and U.K. say they expect brands to offer an online self-service portal. AI self-service systems enable service costs to drop and customer satisfaction to skyrocket.
PwC estimates that 80 percent of customer requests could be resolved without human involvement. In the next few years, bots will drive engagement and provide a helpful level of customer service

JARGON BUSTING
What I have found advising diverse businesses over the years regarding their strategic development in changing markets is that most industries have the same issues just hidden behind industry specific jargon.
It is not enough to live in blissful ignorance. We must all understand and embrace the disruption.
The march of AI and robotic technology across all businesses is unstoppable.
The fact is that AI is rendering several jobs irrelevant. If you fail to plan you plan to fail.
http://www.thedrum.com/opinion/2017/05/31/the-nhs-hack-ba-s-it-meltdown-history-will-keep-repeating-itself-until-brands
We are in the midst of a seismic change.
If you want to stay relevant, make informed decisions, there is no choice.
MIND READING
Elon Musk, Co-Founder & CEO of Tesla, says that humans need to merge with machines if we want to stay relevant.
Various companies including Elon Musk’s Neuralink are Bryan Johnson’s Kernel are looking to connect human brains to computers and create a “neural lace” “that may one day upload and download thoughts.”
As a mind reader, I know what you think of that already … soon everyone else will as well!

REALISE REAL LIES
It is often said that customers prefer to deal with a real person rather than a machine.

The fact that now with automated systems people can no longer tell if they are dealing with a real person is a game changer. “I want to speak to a person not a machine”…is no longer true where the machine can give us a better answer…

Machines are increasingly becoming like the real thing only better!

…and it is not just automated systems but robots themselves which look, sound, feel, taste and smell like the real thing…arousing all of the senses.

From the scarily realistic Erica, created by Hiroshi Ishiguro – the bad boy of Japanese robotics –

to the world’s first robot brothel https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/sex-robot-lumidoll-brothel-negotiations-16986049

Realistic robots may just be the perfect partners of the future.

If we dispense with the need for real people as partners the advances in AI {Artificial Intelligence) will lead to increased demand for AI (artificial insemination) to ensure the survival of the human race.

In fact AI makes it possible to programme personification perfection and pander to our preferences manipulating our marketing messages thereby guiding our purchasing decisions http://www.thedrum.com/opinion/2017/07/03/how-win-google-s-game-hide-and-seek-without-suffering-the-angst-algorithmic

TURING SHROUD – WINNING THE IMITATION GAME

In 1950 British pioneer mathematical magician Alan Turing – “whose differently wired brain” enabled him to crack the Enigma Code – proposed a test to determine whether machines could think by seeing if a machine’s response to a conversation carried out via computer could fool the human participant into believing they were communicating with a real person. “Are there imaginable digital computers which would do well in the imitation game?” http://loebner.net/Prizef/TuringArticle.html

The resounding answer is “YES”

Now machines are increasingly becoming like the real thing and winning the imitation game.

Ignore it at your peril….
