Next Edition has shaped really well on his last two starts and looks worth siding with at 6/1 to cash-in on a drop in the weights to score a deserved success in the 3.40 at Wolverhampton today.

Phil Kirby’s charge is on a long losing run having not scored since landing a class 4 contest at Musselburgh back in May 2013 by 3 1/4 lengths off a mark of 76.

However, the seven-year-old has run well to make the frame on numerous occasions including when runner-up twice last year in class 4 contests off 76.

He is now able to race in this class 5 affair off a career-low of just 60, 16lbs lower than when last successful, and comes into the race having hinted that his time was near with two excellent runs over course and distance.

In the first of those, Next Edition finsished when third of 12 to With Hindsight where he cruised into the contest two from home but got little assistance in the saddle to go down by just 1 1/2 lengths.

He backed that up with a fine head second to With Hingsight 3ight days ago, finishing strongly having been given plenty to do and been poorly placed.

Those runs suggest his time is near, and if building on them Next Edition looks weighted to beat all the beating if ridden a bit more positively.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Next Edition (6/1 bet365, BetVictor, Paddy Power, Sky Bet – BOG)
