NTA’s 2019 – AND THE WINNERS ARE

BEST FACTUAL ENTERTAINMENT – PAUL O’GRADY, FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS

Paul O’Grady was on hand to pick up the award for his factual program ‘For The Love of Dogs’ which won this award for the 3rd time, previously in 2013 and 2014. He told reporters how, having been castergated  for years for portraying Lily Savage he found it strange to now be considered a ‘ national treasure’ and wondered what his parents would make if it. He went on to say he has no plans of slowing down or retiring and would never consider being a judge on any talent shows as he would be a terrible judge, feeling sorry for all the acts.

BEST NEW DRAMA – BODYGUARD  

Members of the cast of the hit suspense thriller Bodyguard took to the stage to receive the award for the Best new Drama. The National Television Award was the first award the program has won, surly more to follow soon. Will there be a new series, and if so what will happen ? the cast and crew were very tight lipped, we will all have to wait and see.

BEST DAYTIME SHOW – THIS MORNING 

This Morning picked up it’s 11th NTA, not all of these are for best daytime it has also previously won best factual program. 

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield accepted the trophy, telling the press conference never take winning for granted, working hard to keep the show fresh. Philip praised Holly’s presenting skills for I’m a Celebrity, as she took over 2018’s  show covering for Anthony McPartlin, although he didn tease her for helping the celebrities in some of the challenges !!! 

BEST NEWCOMER – JAMES MOORE

Emmerdale’s James Moore, who portrays Charity Dingles son Ryan Stocks received the best newcomer award. Cheltenham born Ryan was shocked but honoured to win the award, the fact that it was a public vote made the victory all the better. James who admitted almost quit acting after being told there would be no roles due to his cerebral palsy,  thanked his ‘Emmerdale family’ for their support and love before teasing future story lines that includes a new romance 

BEST COMEDY – PETER KAY CAR SHARE

With Peter Kay, the award was picked up by Sian Gibson, this being the 3rd year in a row. Sian admitted to a busy year ahead, not ruling out the possibility of a feature film length version of Car Share.

BEST DRAMA PERFORMANCE – RICHARD MADDEN   

BodyGuard won it’s second award of the night when Richard Madden walked off with the Best Drama performance for his portrayal of Sgt. David Budd.

Richard told us he is in talks for future series , all very tight lipped, ” I’m actor not a writer ” was all he would divulge. 

BEST QUIZ SHOW – THE CHASE

Bradley Walsh was away working, so the award was picked up by the master quizzers, who were quick to acknowledge Bradley being the UK’s number one quiz host at the moment.

Here’s a thought for TV producers, Maybe it’s time for Chase vs Eggheads 2 leg challenge?

THE BRUCE FORSYTH ENTERTAINMENT AWARD – I’M A CELEBRITY … GET ME OUT OF HERE! 

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here deserved an award this year, and they did this fighting off competition from amongst others Love Island, The graham Norton Show and All Round to Mrs Browns to win The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award

The contestants admitted to keep in contact with each other via a private whatsap group every day. John Barrowman thanked the 600 people work on the show behind the scenes and thanked them all. Nick Knowle quipped that Anne “The Governess” Hegerty was excluded from answering questions due to medical grounds and when asked what job offers had come in since winning the show Harry Redknapp jokingly replied that he had been offered the Manchester United managers job, but had turned it down.

BEST SERIAL DRAMA PERFORMANCE – DANNY DYER

An emotional Danny Dyer collected the award for his portrayal of Queen Victoria landlord Mick Carter in BBC’s EastEnders.

Danny admitted his shock in lasting over 10 years in this role, but having loved everyday.

Danny was then quizzed about his royal heritage admitting to be the 27 times Great Grandson of King Louis 9th. Whilst filming for a new television program about this, Danny admitted to having to eat sheep’s tongue and fermented shark, both which he admits to being vile and not recommended.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD – DAVID DIMBLEBY

David was a awarded the special award for his service to broadcasting, from his royal reporting through to Question Time which he chaired 25 years.

BEST TALENT SHOW – STRICTLY COME DANCING

Strictly celebrated winning the best talent show. The award was collected by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman 

BEST SERIAL DRAMA – EMMERDALE

The cast and crew of ITV’s Emmerdale celebrated winning the best serial drama for the 3rd year running , and asked which celebrities they would like to see guest appearing on the show, Julie Walters name seemed the most popular as she is a big fan of the show….
