MP Nadine voted off I’m a Celebrity

MP Nadine Dorries became the first contestant to be voted off I’m a Celebrity, but insisted she was not disappointed after what had been a “fascinating experience” which had enabled her to find herself.

The 55-year-old told hosts Ant and Dec “I kind of expected it. When you’ve been starving for two weeks no-one could be disappointed.

“I don’t think the public realise how tough it is down there. It’s been a fascinating experience.”

The representative for Mid Bedfordshire  went on to defend herself for taking part in the reality show after being suspended from her party by Prime Minister David Cameron – insisting it had been the right decision to attempt to change the electorate’s view of politicians.

Asked whether she thought she had achieved her aim of reaching the public with politics, Nadine said: “I don’t know what you’ve put in the edit, I don’t know what people have seen, but I’ve had some fascinating conversations in there.

“I actually came here slightly self-important for the first few days, but I completely found myself. I think all MPs are like that. I would never have thought that I was like that but I realised I was. I’m not now.”

Nadine found herself up for elimination along with five of her fellow campmates – Eric Bristow, Helen Flanagan, David Haye, Charlie Brooks and Colin Baker – after they lost out in the ‘bed bugs’ challenge which saw all the contestants having to sleep with jungle critters.

The other five – Ashley Roberts, Hugo Taylor, Limahl, Rosemary Shrager and Linda Robson – won immunity from the first elimination after lasting the longest amount of time in their bug-infested beds.

Speaking about Helen’s bush tucker trials and tribulations, Dorries claimed that a motivational chat before her sixth, successful trial may have helped propel the former Coronation Street star to victory.

She he backed rivals David Haye, Helen Flanagan and Eric Bristow to reach the final night of the series – predicting that the former would go on and be crowned King Of The Jungle.
