A Proper Little Madame Worth A Bet This Afternoon

It is, to put it politely, a bit of a dog’s dinner this Tuesday with one meeting each on the Flat (Pontefract turf), Flat (Southwell all-weather), and over the jumps at Exeter and its all pretty mediocre stuff.

You don’t get to see many sellers these days which is a shame as they can often produce rich pickings for the shrewd punter, but we have one over hurdles at Exeter this afternoon due off at 2.40pm.

Fergal O’Brien is a shrewd operator and at these weights it is difficult to oppose his filly Madame De Labrunie, who was last seen finishing fourth in a novices’ handicap at Hereford.

She is no world-beater, but she did win at Auteuil in France for her previous trainer, and gets in here at the very bottom of the weights, getting 5lb from Stavanger Rose and 12lb from the rest of the field.

One of the few with an official mark (of 99), she does face a field of potential improvers but ius easily the best horse here on what we have seen on a racetrack, and she looks particularly difficult to oppose.
