Heading north to Sedgefield for our second bet this Thursday afternoon, and it is hard to look past Blue Topaz in the maiden hurdle at 2.34pm.
Trained by Fergal O’Brien, the Blue Bresil mare won her final point-to-point at Dingley before changing stables ahead of her Uttoxeter bumper fourth. Given wind surgery afterwards, she looked a different beast when scoring by over four lengths here in mid-October.
Staying on well for a comfortable success, and with the third a further 14 lengths back, she is upped in trip this afternoon which ought to suit ahead of her hurdling debut. If she hurdles efficiently, the great unknown, then she may prove too good for these with the possibility that she can improve again now her breathing has been sorted out.
