Class Act Can Return With A Victory

The best horses are at Chester once again this afternoon and both my bets will be there – I do prefer the better races most of the time as I believe the form holds up better in the long term.

The Dee Stakes is a cracker of a contest despite just the six runners, with four of them a winer last time out, but it leaps off the page that Aidan O’Brien has won the last four runnings of this race – and seven of the last nine – with all of them ridden by Ryan Moore.

None have exactly gone on to be world beaters but this year he runs Constitution River and Flushing Meadows with my strong preference for the first named.

A son of the now passed Wootton Bassett, he finished a short-head second at Newmarket on debut to 2000 Guineas third Distant Storm, and won his next two with a Galway maiden and the Group Two Futurity Stakes at The Curragh by a couple of lengths.

With a heady blend of speed and stamina I doubt we see him at Epsom to be honest, but the French Derby over shorter looks ideal, though he will need to win this first.
