They don’t all win but, I do keep a careful eye out for southern trained horses heading north (and vice versa) and this afternoon that points me in the direction of Square d’Alboni, Dan Skelton’s gelding who heads to Catterick from their Alcester base.
Decent on the Flat with a top rating of 108 after winning a Listed race at Chantilly in October 2024, he started his new career with a seven and a half length third at Newbury when very weak in the market (sent off at odds of 12/1), it seems fair to assume he will take a big step forward this afternoon, and with Harry Skelton also heading to Yorkshire to take the mount, he looks as good a bet as any on a scrappy day.
