Fax Not Fiction

Marty McFly was tempting ahead of the 3.10pm at Catterick this afternoon as the eight-year-old goes in the hunt for his hat-trick, but both wins have been over two and a half miles or thereabouts, and he may not have the pace to deal with Shadowfax Of Rohan over shy of two miles.

Formerly in the care of Micky Hammond, he was switched to fences for his first and so far only start for Patrick Neville where wind-surgery seemed to bring about plenty of improvement.

Making all over course and distance, he came home four and a half lengths clear despite a mistake at the last, and is expected to improve for the experience. He races carrying a 7lb penalty for that success here, but may well go up more than that once reassessed, and as he gets 19lb from his main rival, that may make all the difference.
