Two from the UK this afternoon as we get advance warning that the National Hunt season will soon by taking over our racing and betting thoughts.
At Kelso this afternoon I am hoping to see a winning return from Dan Skelton’s Great Fleet. Second in a Bartlemy point-to-point, he was sold on for £60,000 and won his first bumper by less than a length when running on well at Market Rasen.
Outgunned in a Listed bumper when eighth at Newbury, he has had wind surgery ahead of his hurdling debut and looks sure to be far better suited to both the step up in trip and obstacles to deal with. Sure to have been well schooled at home by a trainer who leaves no stone unturned, I am expecting a big season from the five-year-old with a win here as good a starting point as any.
