From Nowhere To A Hat-Trick?

As regular readers will know I am a big fan of Newbury as a racecourse, so it makes sense for me to try and find us a winner there for starters.

Le Fineur looks interesting ahead of the opening novice, arriving with an unbeaten record, but he made plenty of hurdling errors before winning a maiden at Chepstow and this does look a tougher race that could bring out more mistakes.

Patience is a virtue as they say, and that seems to apply to the seven-year-old Came From Nowhere, who has only had seven career starts, winning a bumper in April 2024, and his last two over hurdles at Hereford and Ascot, showing improved form for a step up in trip.

Last time out they sent the son of Shirocco for a Class Two handicap at one of the better courses, which he won comfortably enough off a mark of 124.

He may have made a noise that day and has had wind surgery since, but dropped into novice company he really ought to be good enough to give the weight away to some talented if less experienced rivals.
