Dr Richard Newland is a shrewd and talented trainer, and I always keep a close eye on his horses who invariably give their true running race after race. High Tech is a risky suggestion ahead of his hurdling debut in the 1.30pm at Ludlow this afternoon, but a look back at his French form suggests he has a decent shout.
He has won twice on the flat at Senonnes-Pouance and then in an amateur riders race at Longchamp last June, and was seen coming home a two length second of sixteen in a 16 runner handicap at Strasbourg in mind-November.
Bought after that for 35,000 Euros, he has the build and stamina to be successful over hurdles, and with Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle, should hit a place at least with a clear round here.
