Never The Twain – Hopefully Not!

I have seen more exciting racing than the stuff served up to us this Sunday but we do have an intriguing and largely forgotten horse running at the Curragh this afternoon who warrants plenty of attention.

Aidan O’Brien trains Twain, who looked all set to compete in last season’s classics after winning both starts, with a six-length maiden victory here over seven furlongs followed by victory in the Group One Criterium International at Longchamp as a two-year-old, before niggling minor injuries struck and he missed the whole of his three-year-old season.

He is set to return to action in the Group three Alleged Stakes this afternoon over a mile and a quarter, and if he gets the trip (open to question as the main aim appears to be the Lockinge over the mile at Newbury in mid-May), then he could outclass these assuming he is fit enough to do himself justice.
