Orne May Bring Home The Corn

The best race of the day on the all-weather has to be the Listed Spring Cup from Lingfield due off at 3.20pm where I expect a fight to the lien between the unbeaten course and distance winner Queen Of Zafeen for Richard Hughes, and the classy Orne representing the Gosdens. My selection has to give 10lb to the filly which will certainly bring the two far closer together, but his overall form makes him the one to be on.

The winner of two of his three starts as a two-year old, one on the Kempton all-weather and the other in a Group Three on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket, he reappeared at Doha in the valuable Al Rayyan Mile in mid-February where he came home a valiant second to Oddyssey after hitting some trouble in running, and the son of Acclamation will be cherry ripe now.

Bigger and better targets will be in the pipeline for the rest of the season, and if he is to compete in Group company in the summer, he will need to be able to win this despite giving weight away to all his rivals.
