Newbury put on the best card this afternoon in my opinion, and this may be L’Homme Presse’s best chance of the season if the going softens up as hoped.
Venetia Williams’ 11 year old won’t be getting any better with age, but he hasn’t exactly run badly this season with a three quarter length second at Cheltenham last month when gunned down late on last time out giving the winner 6lb.
His form suggests he will have no issue with the fractionally shorter trip this afternoon, and I am hoping he will be spot on now after just the two starts since February last year.
