Raise A Glass To The Fahey Runner

I am on my way back from a fascinating racing trip to Dubai, but we have matters closer at hand to deal with now, starting at Pontefract this afternoon as the Turf Flat season finally starts to spring into action.

Sprinter Vintage Clarets certainly had a busy year for Richard Fahey in 2023 winning four of his 13 starts and seeing his handicap mark go up from 91 in April to the 97 he races off today which seems pretty reasonable in the circumstances. Off for close to a year, the gelded son of Ardad has run well fresh before with a debut fourth, a 10th at this level in 2022, and a second last year, so hopefully 2024 sees a winning return.

Wins at York and Catterick were on going with plenty of give in it so the going should not be an issue,  and this may not be the strongest Class Two handicap we will witness this season either.
