Warwick has never been a particularly lucky hunting ground for me (you have been warned), but there is a chance we could hit a place at a decent price with the Alastair Ralph trained Ample Warning in the novice hurdle at 2.10pm, albeit a slim one.
A daughter of Night Wish, she debuted at a decent level in a Class Two Cheltenham bumper won by Anno Power in April 2024 where she finished a well-beaten 11th at odds of 50/1, and was not seen again until her hurdling debut at Ludlow last December.
Sent off at the same big price on her first start in 20 months, she nearly sneaked into a place when fourth, a length and a half short of third spot, where she kept on at the one pace after a mistake two out ended any chance of winning the race.
If she improve for the run and adapts her schooling accordingly, she could be the surprise package here, while I will also be keeping an eye on Scrunpyjack – if only because that’s the sane name as the pool team I play for!
