Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole didn’t have the best of weekends despite a winner in Dubai, with Witness Stand scratched by the vet before the start in Abu Dhabi Saturday and all their best laid plans in tatters.
There is a chance they could make up in part for that disappointment this afternoon, albeit at Hereford where I have hopes of a decent run from The Procrastinator ahead of the fillies’ maiden hurdle at 1.30pm.
A winner on debut in a Doncaster bumper in November, she disappointed when sixth at Ludlow last month, but was still only beaten six lengths at the line.
She switches to hurdles for the first time here, and will surely be better over further in time, but the heavy ground may well make this a decent test of stamina, which I am hoping will play to her strengths.
