World Champion Luke Humphries begins his bid for a second European Tour title of 2024 in the Swiss Darts Trophy

The PDC European Tour will visit Switzerland for the first time this weekend, as the biggest names in world darts go head-to-head at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel from September 27-29.
World number one Humphries will be among the star attractions in Switzerland this weekend, as Luke Littler also makes his bow in Basel.
Friday’s first round will see 16 matches held across a bumper double session, as German Darts Champion Wright kicks off his campaign against quick-fire Dutchman Veenstra.
UK Open champion Dimitri Van den Bergh will play ten-time TV title winner James Wade in one of Friday’s stand-out ties, as former Masters champion Joe Cullen takes on Dutch icon Raymond van Barneveld.
Cameron Menzies faces Wales’ two-time World Cup winner Jonny Clayton in another intriguing tussle, while 2023 World Champion Michael Smith goes up against Stoke-on-Trent star Ian White.
Callan Rydz and Brendan Dolan lock horns for a place in Saturday’s second round, with Nathan Aspinall pitted against Host Nation Qualifier Marcel Walpen as he continues his comeback from injury.
Elsewhere, Wessel Nijman – a quarter-finalist at last weekend’s Hungarian Darts Trophy – meets Luke Woodhouse, who occupies the final provisional spot in next month’s World Grand Prix, ahead of this weekend’s qualification cut-off.
The 16 seeded players will enter the action in Saturday’s second round, as German Darts Grand Prix winner Humphries faces a potential showdown against two-time World Champion Wright.
Teenage sensation Littler could begin his bid for a third European Tour title of 2024 against Poland’s Krzysztof Ratajski, with 2021 World Champion Gerwyn Price handed a tough assignment against Van den Bergh or Wade.
Fresh from his ProTour success on Wednesday, top seed Dave Chisnall faces a potential clash against Aspinall, while White and Smith battle it out for the right to play Stephen Bunting for a place in the last 16.
Ross Smith – a two-time finalist on the European Tour in 2024 – will take on Mike De Decker or Graham Hall, as fifth seed Danny Noppert plays Menzies or Clayton for a place at Finals Day.

Gian van Veen – a runner-up in Budapest last weekend – returns to big stage action against either Rydz or Dolan, while Chris Dobey awaits the winner of Woodhouse and Nijman’s first round tie.

Dutch Darts Champion Josh Rock will take on Ritchie Edhouse or Jermaine Wattimena in his opener, before Rob Cross – also a winner on the European Tour in 2024 – kicks off his challenge against Andrew Gilding or Nandor Pres.

German number one Martin Schindler has been pitted against Dirk van Duijvenbode or Sweden’s Anton Ostlund, while Ricardo Pietreczko awaits either Cullen or Van Barneveld in round two.
Following Saturday’s second round, the last 16 will take place on Sunday afternoon, before the tournament concludes with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in a blockbuster evening session.
Sunday’s afternoon session will begin at 1200 local time (1100 BST), with the evening session getting underway from the earlier time of 1800 local time (1700 BST).
Live coverage of the Swiss Darts Trophy will be streamed through Viaplay, and through DAZN for viewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
