Today had bookies crying into their turkey as Gareth Malone and the Military Wives scored the coveted Christmas No.1 spot.
William Hills originally offered odds of 9/1 on “Wherever You Are” reaching No.1 and by December 24th they were 1/100 odds on favourites, so now Hills are offering odds of 6/1 that Gareth repeats his success in 2012.
Hills spokesman Rupert Adams said “Gareth and his many wives have cost us a small fortune in what has been one of the most enthralling battles for the converted Christmas number one spot. The Industry will be paying out a six figure sum and for once we will be doing so with a smile”
