With Parliament set to debate whether a referendum should be held on the UK’s membership of the EC, bookmakers William Hill are offering odds of 25/1 that such a referendum will actually take place before the next General Election.
‘Despite an apparent desire by a substantial percentage of the public for an EC-related referendum, senior politicians invariably fight shy of such a thing and it is difficult to see the current efforts to enable a referendum to take place actually coming to fruition’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
