MUTYA BUENA IN CONCERT

Original Sugababe Mutya Buena made a triumphal return to the stage this week with an intimate gig at the iconic Boisdale Restaurant Jazz & Blues Club, Canary Wharf in front of family, friends and fans.

An appreciative sell out crowd were treated to a selection of Sugababes classics, as well as new material from her forthcoming EP.

Mutya, who has been on a five year hiatus, seemed a little nervous to start, but soon got into the swing of it, her voice as sweet and powerful as ever. The set was kicked off by Mutya’s 2007 tunes ” just a Little Bit ” & “Song 4 Mutya” before performing “Black Valentine” which will be released next year.

Tracey Chapman’s 1988 classic “Fast Car” was well received, Mutya having first sung it on Radio 1’s 40th anniversary birthday CD.

The show was rounded off with a rendition of Sugababes biggest hit “Push The Button” for which she recruited a couple of men from the audience to sing with her onstage, turning the finale into a large Karaoke with everyone one their feet dancing and singing along .

Mutya Buena who has not performed for over 5 years thrilled the crowd with old favorites as well as new material to be released on a forthcoming EP, ahead of a Sugababes reunion in 2020. For the final song Mutya Buena invited two members of the audience on to “reform” the Sugababes to perform “Push The Button”

The original line-up of Sugababes, Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy, are reforming in 2020 to release new material and tour. The trio, who made up the group’s original line-up, lost the right to record and perform under the name following a number of radical line-up changes have now regained the rights to the name.
