Patriotic punters love a good old Hump

Engelbert Humperdinck’s odds of winning the Eurovision Song Contest have been slashed by Ladbrokes following hefty support from patriotic punters.

The veteran singer’s entry ‘Love Will Set You Free’ has been well received and forced the bookies to halve his odds from 20/1 into 10s.

The firm are also predicting that the crooner will find success outside of Eurovision this year, it’s 8/1 that he has a UK number one and 10/1 that his legendary status is amplified by being awarded a knighthood in the Queen’s New Years Honours list. There’s also a 4/1 chance that ‘Release Me’ tops the charts again over 40 years since its original release.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Punters of the UK are incredibly patriotic when it comes Eurovision, and this year they certainly don’t have the hump with our entry. Engelbert looks like our best chance of winning since the glory days of Katrina and the Waves.”
