Pudsey and Ashleigh waltz to BGT victory

Asheligh and her dancing dog Pudsey won the final of Britain’s Got Talent and landed a massive nationwide gamble in the process.

The act wowed the judges and viewers with an impressive Mission Impossible
style routine. and beat favourites Jonathan and Charlotte into second place.

It is the first time a dog act has won the show, and Simon Cowell, who has been on the lookout for a top dog act, said that “his life’s work is now complete”.

An emotional Ashleigh, 17, who has owned the dog since she was 11-years-old, told viewers: “I want to say a massive thank you to everyone that voted for me, I’m so proud of Pudsey it means so much.”

The duo, who were heavily backed throughout the day from around 5/2 into 7/4 second favourites, scooped £500,000 and a spot on this year’s Royal Variety Performance for their efforts.

Runners-up Jonathan and Charlotte, who sang Celine Dion’s classical hit The Prayer, were ecstatic to come second. Charlotte said: “Oh my god we came second. It was incredible.”

Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud, who sang Calon Lan, came third  after judge Amanda Holden had said they would be perfect to open this year’s Olympics.
