Cape Rosie looks on a potentially handy mark on handicap debut in the 9.00 at Leicester this evening and makes plenty of appeal at 10/1.
Eve Johnson Houghton’s filly has had three quick runs in maidens to get a makr and posted her best effort yet in the last of those when sixth of 13 to Speedy Borading in a 1m 2f contest at Goodwood.
She gave away vital ground by racing out wide, but showed plenty of pace to track the leaders before keeping on at the one pace to be beaten 7 1/2 lengths under tender handling
The winner has since gone on to land a Listed contest at Newbury and finish fifth in the Irish Oaks and is now rated 105, the runner-up Journey has also won since and is now rated 92, and the fourth home Moruadh has also gone on to taste success and is now rated 77.
That is strong form and makes Cape Rosie’ opening mark of 67 look exploitable.
She has clearly been brought along with handicaps in mind, remains unexposed and open to plenty of improvement, and is pitched into a class 5 contset that doens’t look the strongest for the grade.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Cape Rosie (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
