10/1 Guest has an Excellent chance

Excellent Guest has slipped to a dangerous mark and makes plemty of each-way appeal at 10/1 in the 7.10 at Windsor this evening now fitted with the cheekpieces for the first time.

George Margarson’s eight-year-old has some decent form to his name in hot handicaps earlier in his career, including when winning the 2013 running of the class 2 Victoria Cup at Ascot off 93.

He also showed that he retained plenty of ability when winning a classified contest at Ascot last October off an official rating of 87 and is now able to race off just 82.

That is his lowest rating in nearly five years, and he ran with far more spark last time out off it when keeping on well to finish a 1 1/4 length third to American Artist at Windsor after being steadied at the start and held-up well off the pace.

Excellent Guest now meets the winner on 3lb better terms, and if the fitting of the headgear has the desired effect looks capable of turning the tables if building on that effort.

There certainly isn’t much between them on the book, although American Artist is clearly improving, but at the odds on offer I would rather back Excellent Guest each-way at 10/1 than take a crazily short looking general price of 6/4 about AA.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Excellent Guest (10/1 bet365, BetVictor, Boylesports, Coral, Stan James, Sky Bet – BOG)
