10/1 Icarus fancied fly home

Ambitious Icarus looks worth a wager at 10/1 if turned out quickly in the 3.00 at Nottingham today.

Richard Guest’s charge ran at Hamilton last night and was far from disgraced in finishing a keeping on fifth of 8 (beaten 2 3/4 lengths) to Hopes n Dreams in a class 4 contest.

He now drops two grades into class 6 company and returns to a venue where he registered his sole career success last October.

That win came in a 14-runner class 5 affair, where he ran on strongly to beat Hello Stranger by 1 1/4 lengths off a mark of 62.

The four-year-old now gets into this class 6 contest off exactly the same mark, and prior to his run last night and shaped as if ready to strike when staying on strongly over course and distance to finish fourth of 10 to Point North.

He was also far from disgraced on his only other start at the track when 8th of 16 to Lupo D’oro last october and clearly runs the venue well.

There is little doubt that he is weighted to go well in this, and he now looks in the right grade to exploit his handicap mark.

He also has a decent draw in stall 15 to exploit, and everything looks in place for a big run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Ambitious Icarus (10/1 sportingbet)
