10/1 Lancelot Du Lac poised to cut a dash on the Knavesmire

Lanceot Du Lac has a good record at York and looks worth siding with at 10/1 in the 2.15 there today.

Dean Ivory’s gelding was a progressive sort last year, winning four times – including twice at this track.

The second of those came over this afternoon’s trip of 6f where he only had to be driven out to beat Secondo with far more in hand than the winning margin of 3/4 of a length suggests off a mark of 92.

The four-year-old then went on to enjoy a productive spell on the all-weather, scoring twice with the last of those successes coming off a mark of 98.

He then ran well after a break to finish fiffth of 12 to Trinityelitedotcom over 6f at Kempton on his first start of 2014 off today’s mark of 103 before not being knocked about when not getting a clear run and being eased to finish eighth of 12 to Alben Star at Lingfield last time out.

The son of Shamardal should be capable of winning races from hsi current mark judged on his run behind Trinityelitedotcom, and a return to this venue is a big plus.

Apart from his two wins at the track, he finished runner-up on his other visit, and it clearly suits his run style.

Lancelot Du Lac’s proven ability to handle cut in tyhe ground is another plus, and he has also bagged a handy looking draw in stall 1.

With Jim Crowley in the saddle, everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Lancelot Du Lac (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
