10/1 Shadow fancied to Triumph

Shadow Catcher will relish the big field and searching gallop in the Triumph Hurdle which gets today’s action at Cheltenham underway (1.30) and looks a great each-way bet at 10/1.

The gelding was a decent sort on the flat – winning three times – and made a winning debut over hurdles when accounting for Darroun by 1/2 a length at Punchestown in December.

Gordon Elliott’s charge travelled really strongly that day and kept on well for pressure when taking up the running after the last.

The ground was very testing that day, and I am convinced he would have won far more easier on better going.

He then ran a blinder last time out when a 1 1/2 length second to Hisaabaat in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown, racing keenly but travelling the best until making late mistakes which cost him dear.

That race was not run at a pace to suit and I am sure that he will turn the tables on that rival this afternoon.

What he really needs is a true test where he can settle in midfield and be brought late to pick off the leaders with his turn of foot.

Today’s better ground will aslo be absolute ideal for him, and I think he will improve at least another 7lb for it.

If that’s the case then he must go well, and in Paul Carberry he has the perfect pilot for a late, late show to land the spoils.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Shadow Catcher (10/1 bet365, BetVictor – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4)
