Dungannon is back down to a handy mark and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 11/1 in the 7.25 at Nottingham this evening.
Andrew Balding’s gelding took time to getting going last season before hitting a rich vein of form and landing three competitive sprint handicaps in September and October.
In the last of those successes, the seven-year-old stayed on strongly to beat Hawkeyethenoo in a 19-runner class 2 contest on soft ground at Doncaster off a mark of 94.
He got put up to 99 for that victory, and has failed to trouble the judge in four starts this term.
However his mark has fallen as a result, and he is now just 1lb above his last winning mark and dropped down into class 3 company having competed in class 2 contest at Ascot on his last two starts.
That gives Dungannon a big shout from a handicapping perpsective, especially with the promising Thomas Brown in the saddle taking another 3lb off his back.
He should also now be spot on to do himself justice following two runs back from a 121 days break, and wasn’t knocked about on the last of those.
With underfoot conditions to suit, there is little doubt he is weighted to play a big role in this on the pick of his form.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dungannon (11/1 bet365, BetVictor, William Hill – BOG)
