Electric Tiger has caught the eye on a number of occasions and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 11/1 in the 4.30 at Stratford today.
The gelding had modest form on the level when trained in Germany, where he finished in the frame on numerous occasions on good ground.
He then joined David Bridgewater and put in a much improved effort on his debut for the yard when 5th of 15 to Tartan Jura at Goodwood following a lengthy spell on the sidelines
Since than he has had four starts over hurdles, and although he has yet to get his head in front he has shaped with promise in each of those runs and ran far better than his finishing position suggests in his last two spins.
He particularly caught the eye two starts back in a novices handicap hurdle at Sandown where he finished a highly creditable 6th of 15 to Tanerko Emery off a mark of 107 where he raced up with the pace until being able to find an extra approaching the last to be beaten 7 3/4 lengths on very heavy ground.
The winner went on to finish third in the Welsh Champion Hurdle of 135, before finishing runner-up in a an ultra competitive contest at Sandown off 141 sand a fine 5th of 28 in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival off the same mark.
That suggests that the Sandown form is strong in the context of this contest, and although the selection could manage only 7th of 12 to Mauricetheathlete last time out at Chepstow he seemed to struggle in the very testing conditions over the 3m trip and shaped well for much of the race until weakening four from home and was not knocked about.
The handicapper has since dropped him 2lb to a mark of 105, and I think that should enable him to be really competitive in this now dropped back to a more suitable trip of 2m 1f on better ground on a sharp track which could well suit.
