11/2 Orby’s Man can deliver at Donny

The lightly-raced and unexposed Orby’s Man makes plenty of appeal at 11/2 in the 1.55 at Doncaster today now stepped up in trip.

The gelding won his sole start in an Irish point at Ballinboola over 3m, and the race has a decent look to it as the second, third and fifth have all since won under rules.

Indeed, the fifth home was Blaklion who has won  four of his five starts since joing Nigel Twiston-Davies and is now officially rated 145 after landing a grade 2 contest at Chepstow before finishing second in a similar affair at Cheltenham last time out.

Orby’s Man joined the Charlie Longsdon yard after that success, and after showing promise in two bumper runs had little difficulty landing the odds on his hurdles debut when beating Zafraban by 4 1/2 lengths at Worcester.

The five-year-old backed that up with a solid fourth of 8 to Fort Worth in what looked a decent 2m 4f novice hurdle contest at Wetherby, leading for most of the way before being headed two out and being unable to find an extra on the run-in to be beaten 8 lengths.

Orby’s Man then shaped well on his handicap debut at Towcester over 2m 5f, travelling strongly for most of the contest before staying on to finish a 3 1/4 length third to Mailbu Sun.

To me he ran as if needing further, and he looks the type that will improve further for the step up in trip.

Indeed, his point win came over today’s 3m trip, and he should be more than capable of winning races off his current mark of 117.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Orby’s Man (11/2 Betfred, BetVictor, Boylesports, Ladbrokes, Sky Bet, William Hill – BOG)
