11/4 Itoldyou a solid punt at Plumpton

Itoldyou has plenty going for him in the 3.20 at Plumpton today and rates a solid bet at 11/4.

Linda Jewell’s gelding put in some solid efforts over fences last season, finishing runner-up to Double Dash in a 3m handicap at Lingfield on heavy ground off a mark of 102 and occupying the same position behind Kapga De Cerisy over 2m 5f at Sandown on bottomless ground.

The form of the latter looks strong as the winner, from whom he was receiving 26lbs, has gone on to score twice since in useful company and is now officially rated 150.

That makes the selection look on a handy mark in this off 103, and he comes into the contest in good form.

The eight-year-old comfortably opened his account over the larger obstacles when running out a ready 4 1/2 length winner here over 3m 2f on his penultimate start off 97 and was the far from disgraced last time out when third of 7 to Reblis on heavy ground – again over 3m 2f at this venue – off 104.

The drop back in trip to 2m 4f should not inconvenience judged on his run behind Kapga De Cerisy, and his proven stamina could prove a big plus in what is going to turn into a real slog.

To me he has the form in the book which entitles him to be favourite for this, so at the odds on offer he looks overpriced and has to be of major interest in what isn’t a strong looking contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Itoldyou (11/4 generally available – use BOG firms)
