12/1 Off The Hook value at Newbury

Off The Hook has a progressive profile and looks decent value at 12/1 in the 3.15 at Newbury today. Trained in Scotland by Nick Alexander, this seven-year-old has shown improved form in four outings this season and looks potentially ahead of her handicap mark. She ran a stormer on her penultimate outing at Haydock when third of seven to Queenofhearts in a Listed contest over 2m 2f when staying on strongly to go down by just 1 3/4 lengths. The winner is a smart sort who is now rated 135 and the fourth home Papagana win a Listed race at Doncaster next time up. That gives the form a solid look and Off The Hook has since gone on to open her account over the obstacles when landing a 17-runner maiden hurdle over 2m 4f at Ayr in gutsy fashion when finding plenty for pressure to beat Sam’s Adventure – a winner since – by 1/2 a length off an official rating of 121. Off The Hook is able to race in this off the same rating and that gives her a huge shout from a handicapping perspective, especially judged on her run behind Queenofhearts. She is clearly going the right way and looks the type who has more improvement left in the locker. It’s also interesting that the daughter of Getaway will be the first ever runner at the Berkshire venue for Alexander and this has clearly been her long term target.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Off The Hook (12/1 bet365, Betfair, Paddy Power, William Hill – BOG)
