12/1 Bedouin can keep rivals at Bay

Alan McCabe has his team in great nick and his Bedouin Bay looks cracking value at 12/1 in the 4.30 at Southwell.

The five-year-old shaped well three starts ago at the track when keeping on well to finish a 3 1/2 length fourth of 11 to Admiral Duque and is now 18lbs better off with that rival.

The way he shaped that day suggested that he would be well suited by the extra two furlongs this afternoon, and the huge pull in the weights should enable him to turn the form around.

I therefore can’t understand why he can be backed at three times the odds of that rival, especially as he has since run well to finish a solid second to Abergavenny in a decent “Jumpers Bumpers” contest over 2m here.

The gelding also ran better than his finishing position suggests in a warm handicap hurdle at Sandown last time out, and is now 1lb lower than when last successful on the level at Wolverhampton last February.

That gives him a great chance at the weights, and with Declan Cannon taking off another 3lb he looks sure to go well from the foot of the handicap.

To me there is now way he should be available to back at double figure odds, and at 12/1 he looks a great each-way play.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Bedouin Bay (12/1 Hills, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power – BOG)
