12/1 Desert handicapped to Strike at Wolves

Desert Strike is back down to his last winning mark and looks good value at 12/1 to take advantage in the 6.20 at Wolverhampton today now dropped back to his best trip.

Conor Dore’s seven-year-old has had a very productive year, scoring four times.

His last win came over 5f at Lingfield back in June where he made virtually all and only had to be driven out to beat Rock Up by 2 1/4 lengths off a mark of 73.

He was the far from disgraced when finishing a 3/4 length fourth of 9 to Arctic Lynx over 6f at Kempton off 79 where he led until being umable to find any extra near the finish.

The gelding then failed to sparkle in his next three starts but there was much more to like about his effort last time out here over 6f when he finished fourth of 7 to Fat Gary off a mark of 75.

He chased the leaders on the outside that day and took up the running three from home until being headed a furlong out and weakening to be beaten 4 3/4 lengths.

It was a promising effort which suggested he could be on the way back, and he has since been dropped a further 2lb by the handicapper.

That means sthat he is now back down to his last winning mark, and gives him every chance in this – especially now dropped back to 5f.

Eleven of his 15 career successes have come over the minimum trip, and three of those have come at this track.

He also has a decent draw in stall 3 from which to attack, and with Liam Keniry – who has ridden him to 2 of his last 3 successes – in the saddle everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Desert Strike (12/1 bet365, BetVictor, Hills, Paddy Power)
