You’relikemefrank has slipped to a dangerous mark and looks good value at 12/1 to take advantage and score an overdue success in the 1.50 at Wolverhampton after shaping as if coming back to form last time out.
Richard Ford’s gelding has not scored since landing a 5f contest at Lingfield back in January 2011, but that win came off 67 and he now gets into this off just 51.
He also didn’t run too badly last year when fourth on a couple of occasions off marks of 64 and 68, and although he showed little in his first three runs this year there was much more to like about his fourth of 10 to First Rebellion over 6f here last month.
The seven year-old was held-up in mid division that day after being slowly away but the made good headway two from home to go second approaching the last before being unable to find a change of gear and keeping on at the one pace to be beaten just over 5 lengths.
It was a solid effort considering all his 5 career wins have come over 5f, and one that suggested he could be about to cash-in on his plummeting mark.
The handicapper has certainly been kind in dropping him another 3lb since that run, and he should be able to be really competitive again now dropped back to the minimum trip.
He does have a wide draw to overcome, but he has shown in the past that he does have early speed when on the top of his game.
The fact that he is drawn in 9 seems to have been factored into the price, and I think he would be shorter than the 12s on offer if drawn closer to the inside.
