Sairaam is back down to a decent mark and looks overpriced at 12/1 in the 2.00 at Leicester.

Charles Smith’s mare hasn’t scored since landing two handicaps back in  2010, but she has run a number of highly creditable efforts and is now just 1lb higher than her last success.

She was beaten just a neck by Mountrath over course and distance off today’s mark of 63 last May, and went on to chase home Roodle at Yarmouth off 68.

The six-year-old then returned to this venue three times in August/September and ran with great credit on every occasion – finishing 2nd, 4th and 5th off marks of 65 and 66 respectively.

She clearly runs the track well, and that has to make her of interest now switched back to the turf after a spin on the all weather back in March after a lay-off.

The daughter of Marju is much better on the turf, and is certainly down to a rating from which she has proved she is effective.

Another plus is that she loves to hear her hoofs rattle and will relish the quick going.

With Cathy Gannon in the saddle she seems to tick a lot ox boxes as far as this contest is concerned, and at the odds on offer looks good each-way value.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Sairaam (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
