14/1 Askaud looks lovely at Leicester

Askaud has a good record at Leicester and makes plenty of appeal at 14/1 in the 4.20 today now dropped in class from what is a workable mark.

The Scott Dixon trained mare was in rude health last season when bagging three handicaps.

Two of those successes came over course and distance, and the six-year-old finished an excellent runner-up in a Listed contest at this venue back in April.

Askaud stayed on well that day to be to be beaten three lengths by Eton Forever in what looked a hot little race.

The winner gave that form a boost when finishing an excellent third in a Group 3 contest at Haydock, the third home Breton Rock has gone on to win a Group 2 contest, and the fifth home Gabriel’s Lad won the valauable Victoria Cup at Ascot next time up.

Askaud was put up 4lb for that effort to 95, and didn’t run too badly of it when fourth in a Listed contest at Goodwood and a close up sixth in a class 1 handicap at York.

The daughter of Iffraj now gets into this class 3 contest off 89, having finsihed a fair eighth of 17 to Bragging in a class 2 contest at York last time out.

That makes her well-treated on the pick of her form, and good each-way value now returned to a venue she clearly runs well.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pt each-way Askaud (14/1 bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes, Stan James, Sky Bet – BOG)
