14/1 Darceys Dancer too well-treated to ignore

Darceys Dancer has been given a massive chance by the handicapper and looks worth chancing at 14/1 to bounbce back to form and take advantage in the 3.15 at Ludlow today.

Evan Williams’ charge was a decent sort in Ireland, where he scored three times and was placed behind the likes of Loosen My Load and Torphichen.

He ran a blinder for his current yard when third behind Anquetta in a Grade 1 listed handicap at Ascot back in October 2011 off a mark of 135 and although he has failed to trouble the judge since then he is now 32lb lower in the weights.

That gives him an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective, despite the fact that he hasn’t looked the most straightforward.

He hasn’t been able to get competitive in his last five starts, but prior to that had shaped far better than his finishing position suggests when staying on late to finish fourth of 7 to Hellfire Club at Newbury last March off a mark of 121.

Although beaten 32 lengths the 10-year-old was never put into the race at any stage after a mistake at the first and stayed on well on the flat under hands and heels with plenty of running left in him.

He had also run a fair race after his third at Ascot when 5th of 11 to Imsingingtheblues in a class 2 affair at the same track off a rating of 135, and if he can reproduce anything like those efforts in this class 4 contest he would haev major claims.

The fact that he has been so disappointing means that backing him  comes with risks attached, but at the odds on offer it looks worth a risk worth taking given his massive fall in the weights.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Darceys Dancer (14/1 Betfred, BetVictor – BOG)
