14/1 Kingscombe the Plumpton punt

Kingscombe is a fascinating contender on handicap debut in the 2m hurdle at Plumpton today (3.30) and looks worth an interest at 14/1.

Linda Jewell’s gelding is yet to cut any ice in three runs over hurdles, but is a six-time winner on the level who has been in good heart this year and looks potentially well-treated now going down the handicap route.

The five-year-old rattled-up a four-timer at Southwell between February an April, winning the first off a mark of 55 and the last off 70.

He then got beat well beat when switched back to the turf in a class 4 contest at Newbury, and was susequently given a break to freshen up.

Kingscombe then returned to the track last month, and has shaped as if needing the outings in contests at Kempton and Wolverhampton.

Those runs should have blown away the cobwebs and put him spot on, and it’s intresting that connections are now going back down the hurdling route as his opening mark of 79 looks very workable if he can translate the improvement in form he showed on the level earlier in the year to the obstacles.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Kingscombe (14/1 Betfred, BetVictor – BOG)
