The unexposed Lawmans Thunder makes his handicap debut in the 5.45 at Kempton today and is strongly fancied at 15/2 to make it a winning one.

Formerly trained for Godolphin by Charlie Appleby, the son of Lawman shaped well on his racecourse debut at Newmarket back in 2012 when fading late on to finish seventh of 11 to Boomshackerlacker.

He was then on the sidleines for 409 days before staying on late to finish fourth of 12 to Satwa Story at Wolverhampton in race which has thrown up several subsequent winners.

That run was followed by another lenghty spell on the sidelines, and he ran far better than his final finishing position suggests over 7f here last month when last of five to Crystal Lake on his first start for Ismail Mohammed.

The four-year-old looked, and ran, as if badly needing the race and faded late on after travelling OK for much of the contest and holding every chance two from home.

He was not knocked about in any shape of form and that run should have blown away the cobwebs.

It was a run which suggested he may well do better in handicaps, and he now make his debut in that spshere off what could well be a lenient mark of 65.

The step up to a mile may also bring about some improvement, and with Tom Queally in the saddle and a good draw to explit in stall 1 it would be no suprise to see him improve siginifcantly on just his second start for his shrewd handler.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Lawmans Thunder (15/2 BetVictor – BOG)
