Invicta Lake shaped well last time out and looks worth and each-way wager at 16/1 in the 3.00 at Sandown today.
Suzy Smith’s gelding ran very well to finish third of 12 to Katkeau in a competitive class 1 contest at Cheltenham in November 2014 off a mark of 116, before going on to land land this contest 12 months ago off 123.
He came with a storming run from off the pace in the latter to win going awy by 4 1/2 lengths from El Dancer, but has largely struggled since after being raised 9lb to 132 for that success.
However he didn’t run too badly four starts back when third off 127, and shaped as if returning to form last time out when fourth at Huntingdon when ridden from the front and leading until two out before weakening late on to be beaten 12 1/2 lengths.
It was a decent effort under diffrent tactics, and Invicta Lake is now able to race off 124 – just 1lb higher than when landing this last year.
That should enable him to be very competitive, and he looks to have been brought along with this race in mind.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Invicta Lake (16/1 bet365 – BOG, enhancedplace terms 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
