16/1 Kaiulani the Lowther value

Kaiulani looks overpriced in the Lowther at York today (2.30) and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 16/1.

Mick Channon’s filly, a 100,000 euro daughter of Danehill Dancer, was well-touted ahead of her first run at Leicester and did not let those who punted her into 2/1 favourite down.

After showing good pace to chase the leaders she only had to be pushed along to take up the lead inside the final furlong before running on strongly to beat Excel’s Beauty by 2 lengths.

She was value for much more than the winning margin, and the was lots tom like about the professional manner in which she went about the job.

The runner-up has gone on to score twice since and was beaten just a length by Wind Fire in a listed contest at Newbury last time out.

The selection was then pitched into the deep end in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascpt just 22 days later and was far from disgraced in finishing 9th of 23 to Rizeena.

She didn’t have the best of draws that day and after being held-up in mid division stayed on nicely inside the last tio be beaten 5 3/4 lengths.

It was a solid effort given how quickly the run came after her debut success, and she looks the type who will improve further having been given a decent break since that run.

On a line through Excel’s Bolt she has the same chance, if not better, than Windfire in this yet can be backed at three times the odds of that rival.

Given that she is arguably open to more improvement than that rival having only had two racecourse starts that doesn’t make sense, and she also has only 2 lengths to find on Reroute based on their Queen Mary running yet is 6pts bigger in the betting than Ed Walker’s filly.

That makes her look overpriced at the odds on offer and well worth an each-way punt.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Kaiulani (16/1 BetVictor, Stan James – BOG)
