16/1 Paris Protocol a King George cracker

Paris Protocol has some solid form to his name and makes plenty of appeal at 16/1 in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot today (5.35) after an eye-catching reapperance run.

Richard Hannon’s colt ran really well on debut at Sandown when third behind Chief Whip and Cartago, who are both useful sorts now rated 97 and 94, and backed that up with a 3/4 length second to the now 112-rated Knife Edge over 7f at this venue.

Paris Protocol then opened his account with a comfortable 2 3/4 lengths success over Stargazer at Salisburyans was allotted what looked a workable an opening handicap mark of 93 on the back of it.

Although only fifth of 12 off it on return to action at Sandown in April, Paris Protocol ran far better than that suggests and kept on nicely to be beaten just over 5 lengths without being given a hard time.

The sixth, ninth and 11th home have all come out and won since to give the form a solid look, and Paris Protocoal finished 4 3/4 lengths behind the runner-up Lovell who he now meets on 8lb better terms.

There shouldn’t be much between the pair, yet Lovell is favourite and Paris Protocol can be backed at three-times his odds.
