Beau Lake is back down below his last winning mark and looks worth an each-way wager at 20/1 in the 4.25 at Warwick today now fitted with the cheekpieces for the first time.
Suzy Smith’s gelding was a dual winner in the mud in class 3 contests at Fontwell last season, and in the last of those successes showed a good attitude to dig deep and beat tghe now 120-rated Cappielow Park by a neck off a mark of 113.
The 11-year-old was then off the track for 330 days before reappearing in a class 3 contest at Haydock where he tracked the leaders until weakening two from home to finish a 14 1/4 length seventh of 8 to Baby King off a mark of 120.
Beau Lake has failed to biuld on that in two subsequent outings, but his mark has fallen as a result and he is now able to race in this class 4 contest off just 111.
That is 2lb lower than whne last successful, and gives him a big shout at the weights if the first time headgear can spark him back to life on ground which holds no fears.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Beau Lake (20/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
